Thursday saw Lymm mixed take on the mixed allstars at Bowdon H.C.
Lymm started brightly taking an early lead through Alex Humphries drive down the left.
He drove to the base line and slipped it past the keeper.
Next saw Bowdon ramp it up as the midfield took control moving the ball at pace to the wingers.
This led to their first goal from a penalty corner. The ball was injected and slapped to the right post for a tip in.
After the restart both teams were hard to break down and the score remained 1-1 at the half.
In the second Lymm went behind early as we were caught short at the back and the attacker drove into the left side of the circle and fired accross me into the side netting with pace.
Lymm restarted and quickly moved the ball around the pitch and got some luck down the right with Buck and Boardman combining to cross for Jones, who puts it on a plate for Chung at the back post to make it 2-2.
Bowdon straight away took the initiative and pinged the ball around the back to open up gaps in our resolute defence, which led to the attacker gaining the circle on the left and firing low into the near post for 3-2.
Lymm didn't falter tho as a solid 15 minutes of pressure paid off as Arber, Chung, Arrowsmith and Humphries combined along the left and into the circle to put the ball on a plate for Jones with an open net to make it 3-3.
Final: Bowdon Allstars 3-3 Lymm Mixed
A great game of Hockey enjoyed by all, ended a thrilling summer campain for Lymm.
There have been highs and lows all through the summer and finishing 3rd is no small feat.

Mike Jones
On a warm ish summers evening the Lymm squads descended on Belle Vue to take part in finals night in the Mixed.
With both of Lymms' division 4 and 2 teams only able to achieve 4th place after some shocking umpiring in both of their games, it was left to the division 1 team to try and win their games.
Semi final Lymm all blacks V Diversity (Timperley)
Lymm started the game cautiously as a slow start was preferable to an early hammering. But it was soon evident the we were superior in both skill and fittness as the goals began to go in.
Andy Hunt, Phill Griffiths, Pete Jones and Lisa Hartley- Woodrow combined to score our goals. With Keeper Mike Jones, Defenders Alex Mitchell and Jo Hartley all looking solid in defence.
To be fair it was a bit of a walk over as i had maybe 3 shots to save in the whole game.
The Sheer Dominance of Lymm meant that Diversity didn't have chance to launch much of an offensive the other way.
This was evident in the final score line
Final: Lymm 4-0 Diversity

FINAL Lymm V Loony toons (Brooklands)
Both teams took to the field after the runners up game before them had gone to strokes, something niether team wanted to win a final on.
Brooklands were favorites to win having only lost 2 games out of 24 and with a goal difference that would make Manchester united blush looked to win with ease.
After the start brooklands looked comfortable, moving the ball around the back and attacking with patience rather than aggression.
Brooklands attacked down my left hand side and squared it to the forward who fired his shot past the left side of my face into the roof of the net. Poor hand postioning gave them the goal but to be fair had my hand been in the way it would be in a plaster cast today as it was travelling!! 1-0
After the restart ariel thrown from Griffiths circle to circle, looked good in the air. It looked ever better when Hunt hit it on the volley from the top of the circle past the stunned brooklands keeper into the top right. BOOOM!!!!
1-1.
Brooklands responded with another 2 before half time. A quality ball from circle to circle left the latteral running forward an easy tap in from my left post and a goal from a penalty corner made it 3-1.
HALF TIME
No words were required at half time, we knew what needed doing.
SECOND HALF
The second started much as the first did with great ball movement around the back but this time it was Lymm.
We looked far more confident and with Lisa in acres of space more and more so on the left side of the pitch, Lymm exploited this weakness and attacked with power.
This gave us our 2nd goal.
Lisa takes 2 players on with ease and drives to the left side of the circle, putting it on a plate for Griffiths from three yards out. 3-2
This was it, we could do it, they weren't that tough.
But some sloppy midfield work let brooklands in down the left. The winger drove the base line and rounded me as i sprawled on the floor trying to get any touch to deflect it away. He passed to the back post where a forward was waiting to slap it in, as i got up and dove left to right, the ball passed inches from my right hand pad and into the goal. Which was more annoying because had i been holding my stick correctly i may have saved it but we'll never know! 4-2
That looked to be game over but, the attitude and commitent of the lymm players was steadfast and as we restarted this was to be proven.
Again the ball from the back was spread wide to Lisa who drives infield and slips the ball left again to Jones who drives into the circle, rounds the keeper and puts it safe. 4-3
This is it! One more goal, were level and Brooklands dominant hold over this tournament is at an end.
This rocked a Brooklands side which boasted National league and North Premier League players, so much so that we easily got the ball back from them.
Jones recieves the ball from Hartley on the right, drives past 2 players and into the circle. Two Brooklands players double up on him, Jones passes the ball throught them to a waiting Andrew hunt unmarked 3 yards out on the back post, keeper nowhere to be seen.
Now those of you reading this who know andrew, would put your kids life savings on this guy to score in this situation.
I had already began celebrating as the ball came to andrew who had enough time to stop the ball and push it in, he first time slapped it over and wide of the left post.
In Andrews defence he scores some unbelievable goals and is a great player but, we all know that no one is perfect and sometimes as players the simplest things can beat us, a poor trap, a poor clearance, for example. It seems if something is to easy or to good to be true, it usually isn't and requires you upmost concentration and respect.
This chance came 2 minutes before the end and after that miss Lymm still battled to the end. Heads high and looking to send the game to Strokes.
Final Whistle. Brooklands 4-3 Lymm
After watching this game from my goal i realised that this team gave it all on the pitch and nearly beat one of the most dominant teams in this summer league.
Brooklands were well drilled and clinical
We were steadfast and Resolute
In the end we all played a great game of the sport i love.
Thanks for reading
I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!

Prescot Mens 7's tournament Sunday 2nd August 2010
Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10:43AM Lymm entered yet another summer 7s tournament in their desire to be frosty come the beginning of the regular season.
Lymm dominated the opposition nearly reaching double figures in some games, goals, goals and more goals were flying in and as i watched from our goal at all the action, i shed a tear for the opposition keepers as they were helpless to stop the onslaught.
Lymm won all but their last game against hosts Prescot, where in a tense final of the highest quality, the game ended 3-3.
Only one thing left......strokes.
After 5 strokes we were all level on 4 each, with Andrew hunt hitting the post and one prescot player putting wide.
In sudden death Our beloved club Chairman Dave Antonelli fired just over the top right corner. It was left to prescot to settle a tense competition.
They put theirs away into the top right corner with class. 5-4 Game over.
We finished second but yet more summer fitness in the bank for the coming season and thats what matters!
Next up is the Mixed 7s Finals at Belle vue WB in Manchester on Tuesday the 3rd of August.
Lymm have 3 teams in the finals so were hoping for a good night.
If you are local to Lymm i would recomend coming to watch a good night of Hockey!
